The Oceania Semester brings the history and culture of 14 independent countries – Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, and Nauru – to the Missouri Southern State University campus throughout the semester. Missouri Southern students have many exciting opportunities to study for a semester or year in other countries. The University is a member of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), through which MSSU students can study and earn credit at some 330 colleges and universities in 50 countries around the world. International students or second language English students in the regular academic program at MSSU who wish to take English support classes to help their academic studies may take up to 6 hours of IEP courses each semester. “The purpose of the MOU is to ensure that international students transferring from NEO have a clear understanding of the requirements for admissions and that MSSU staff are prepared to welcome them to our campus.” Under the terms of the agreement, those students will be able to transfer to MSSU for the in-state tuition rate, plus 10 percent. Courses in English are offered every semester; each department hosts some courses in English. A basic proficiency in Korean is helpful; we recommend that students enroll in either the free Korean language class (non-credit) for international students or regular Korean language and culture classes for credit.
